Have many of you picked this up yet? I got it yesterday and am loving it so far. Nice and slick. My only gripe though is that I seem to lag a lot (single player mode) when I play as the marines. Alien and Predator are fine for some unknown reason...

I haven't played one of those since the first one. Is playing as an Alien still incredibly disorientating but immensely fun?

Yes. You can now properly run and jump from surface to surface like aliens in the films now too. Odd to get used to, but great once you get the hang of it. A nicely designed crosshair too so no matter what way up you are or what you are hanging from, you know which direction the floor is.

Well its a good game, when its not
@ Crashing
@ freezing
@ CTDing
@ Disconnecting
@ timing out

So its a good game, but only 20% of the time. Waste of £17

I've not had any of these issues tbh, except maybe disconnections from multiplayer. I'm not entirely without my gripes however:

- Single player campaigns too short / easy
- Marine seems slow and clunky
- No dedicated servers yet
- Player hosted matches are a bit of a joke (the host often just quits)

The melee is based on rock-scissors-paper so each outcome could go either way. Apparently they did this for people on slower connections rather than going for pure evasion which relies heavily on zero-lag and ninja systems. I'm slowly getting more used to it. Bring on the dedicated servers!

yeah i found the melee combat better than alot of other systems. Remember trying to knife someone who was running away on Planetside? Jeff doesnt get to comment on that score however..

My work made this game. After three years of editing books to the noise of gunfire and aliens dying I was sort of put off playing, but have heard nothing but good things. May have to nab a copy off the game guys.
